The purpose of this web site is to try and find out more about my family, and in particular, my father and grandfather. So, to put you in the picture, here is a short version of me, my parents and grandparents. It isn't quite finished yet, but I'm working on it.

About Me
I, Paul Joseph Sherry, was born on the 17th May 1937 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. I was the youngest child of James Joseph Sherry and Margareta Sherry (nee Sweeney). Besides me, there was Margaret Mary (10/04/1929 - 7/06/2005), Rita Marie (31/01/1931), Mary Colette (16/10/1932), and Michael James (16/07/1935).I came to England with the whole family in 1939 at the age of 2, arriving on 10th August at Southampton.
My grandparents had already arrived sometime in May and had established themselves in Moreton, Cheshire. We moved into a house just around the corner and stayed there for a few years.
During the bombing of Merseyside we moved up to Nelson in Lancashire. We didn’t stay there very long because my father worked in Liverpool at the time and we were housed in temporary accomodation in Penrhyn Road, Knowsley, (for 20 years!) and then moved into a council house in Sugar Lane, Knowsley.
On the 23rd March 1963 I married Carol McCartney, a ladies hairdresser, and over the next 7 years we had 4 children. They are Helen Maria (10/09/1963), Simon Paul (24/10/1965 - 7/04/2005), David Joseph (1/12/1966) and Philip John (11/01/1971). We bought our first house, Park Lane, Netherton, Liverpool 10, in 1965 having stayed with Carol’s Uncle Arthur and Auntie Doll for a short while. We sold up in 1979 and bought a newsagents business. We stayed there till 1994. After selling the business we moved to Birkenhead, Merseyside, where we have lived ever since.
There is a possibility that someone out there is part of this SHERRY family. I would love to hear from you.
